Metal Coating Helps Protect The Products We Use Everyday
Vacuum coating is a process that allows us to coat materials to help ensure they’re protected, so wear and tear can be reduced. This procedure allows for a thin layer of metal to be applied over a material to protect it, or to give it reflective or decorative qualities. The technology has been perfected over the past two or three decades and is used today on the products you use in your daily life.
The process is called physical vapor deposition, or PVD for short, and allows us to apply thin metal coatings to glass, plastic, or other metallic materials. During the process, the material to be coated is placed in a specialized type of evaporation equipment, where vacuum metallization helps to coat the product with that protective layer.
